Lake Effect Exhibition
Fine art honors and a preview
Back in 2024, we had two incredible events make their way to Cleveland, Ohio. A total eclipse darkened the skies above our region in the path of totality and the northern lights stretched down from the pole to dazzle the south shore of Lake Erie. Two of my eclipse (and eclipse adjacent) images, Eclipse Over Cleveland and Cloudrise, were selected for an exhibition at the Bostwick Design Partnership space in Cleveland that same year. I am pleased to share that another image, this time from the northern lights, has been selected as part of another local exhibition.
Aurora Eriealis will appear the Transformer Station starting July 9th as part of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Lake Effect show. I would be happy to meet you at the exhibition for a viewing as my schedule allows. Aurora Eriealis also features in my latest AFIELD Journal Vol. III where I recounted the experience. It is a wonder that there is no one else sitting on the breakwall. I look around as if I am trespassing and set up my tripod and camera with a view over the lake. It is a good view, and the Northern Lights begin their glow along the south shores of Lake Erie. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the lights before, yet they are as enchanting as I imagined. I wonder at the magenta and optic green colors reflecting in the puddle in front of me and imagine a great migration based on light; some kind of antlered animals pull me across fields and water and snow until I find the source of wonder somewhere in the Arctic Circle. A friend arrives and brings beer, good beer. Magic is best experienced together.
