I joined Covered Bridge Outfitters and Lodge as they hosted a group of six anglers from Project Healing Waters in their lodge and on the water. If you’re not familiar with Project Healing Waters, I encourage you to check out their website and support a local chapter. The concise way to describe their work is that they provide veterans opportunities to fish, tie flies, and build rods. This work is just the surface, as veterans, like many anglers, use fishing and the the river as a way to center, to find a welcome place of peace from life’s anxieties.
A variety of images from the outing stuck out to me as indicative of the Grand River fishery and the experience of floating its current. Like all anglers I photograph, I hope this art form allows for a lasting reflection on our relationship with nature, our country, and ourselves.
If you’d like to sponsor the cost of my photography services for other veteran outings, please reach out to me and we can find the best opportunity to serve those who serve our country.
